The family company was founded in 1991 by Jana Matonova and Karel Maton, who were later joined by their children Lucy and Lukas. As big animal lovers during the communist era in the Czech Republic, their first idea after the Velvet Revolution was to start a business involving animals. Everything started in a small family house, with 3 employees and poor production in a small country, which was however one of the leading fish breeders in the world. Over the years the stocking and production spaces have changed, and the local market became too small for a fast growing company with big plans and heads full of ideas. The number of world markets supplied started to grow to the current 48 countries on 5 continents. It took a lot of power, work and thousands of travelled kilometres to learn western markets, habits, competition and business customs, which were something absolutely new compared to the eastern market and the life style of the deep socialist system.Time was running, the fruits of our efforts were coming in, and in 1999 everything was moved to newly built areas with modern technology and equipment – ready to satisfy all the needs of the company’s customers and the demands of the coming new millennium. Thanks to the automatic system of production there are now 30 employees working at Dajana PET.
Nowadays the line of products produced by Dajana PET contains foods for all kinds of tropical fish, coldwater fish, pond fish, food for turtles, iguanas and small reptiles. More than 50 kinds of products are available in flake, granulated, pellet, tablet, natural or powder form. All products are produced in 6 sizes of packaging. The other side of production and research is engaged in the liquid programme – fish and water treatment, plant fertilization, removers of unwelcome organisms and more. The wide range of top quality products covers all the needs of the end customers, however it is still necessary to keep abreast of the needs of the market.
A great emphasis is placed on quality control from the beginning of production to the final stocking. The HACCP system was implemented in 1999, regular laboratory control is commonplace, as is maintaining 100% cleanliness of all areas. ![]() Dajana PET puts much emphasis on cooperation with professional breeders when developing new products and using new ingredients. Their feedback is examined in detail to reach the highest possible satisfaction of the customer and fish. In recent years Dajana PET has put efforts into decreasing the number of chemical ingredients used in production of the food and replacing them with pure natural raw materials, which are the closest thing to the animals living in an aquarium and to the aquarium’s environment.
Although Dajana PET has successfully bested the competition in many countries in recent years, the firm also exports a large portion of production under private labels. Future plans Thanks to the philosophy of top quality, low price and good service Dajana PET expects to increase the current 48 markets to 60 in the next few years and to build strong brand recognition. Besides working on the company’s image, the innovation of current production, packaging and stocking systems is expected through the use of the most modern technologies guaranteeing the highest possible quality. Review and research are very important at Dajana PET. Our products are continually refined, new products are added and, together with a team of top designers of packaging, marketability is being increased. All packaging is 100% recyclable, made from PP and ALU foil. As a leading manufacturer and exporter of aquarium fish food in the Czech Republic, Dajana PET sponsors most of the zoological gardens in the country, animal exhibitions and animal leisure centres. It is very important to lead today’s young generation to nature and to a positive relationship and love for animals. It is a pleasure that we can do our own small bit… ![]() We support project Green Energy. more » |
